Developed by an engineer with 22 years of testing and product design experience of automotive structures, and five years full time experience developing a global field test data management system based on NI DIAdem for a major agricultural OEM.
After retiring early in 2017, I began working freelance with a wide variety of clients, assisting them with the customization of DIAdem to optimize their ingestion, analysis, and reporting of test data. In between freelance projects, I developed data analysis and manipulation tools, and then apps that could be easily patched in to service client needs.
The persistent pattern of the client need to ingest, analyze, and generate reports for a set of many files was the inspiration for the development of the Bulk Import, Bulk Analysis, and Bulk Report.
I have leveraged all of my knowledge of DIAdem's powerful time series data management features into a simple, easy to use, complete data management system.
My first five years full time experience with DIAdem began with the development of a field test data management system designed to be accessed globally by engineers in a major agriculture equipment manufacturer. Throughout that time, I was also responsible for collecting raw data, accepting raw data collected by other field test engineers using a wide variety of data acquisition / data logging equipment, and analyzing the data.
The final data management system developed (powered by NI DIAdem) was very successful in enabling the analysis of data across the global platform of products. For the first time, it was possible to look at the performance of an engine in a wide variety of agriculture vehicles, operating in diverse environments. The data management system was built from inception with the capability to ingest multiple files in a single batch, and enrich them with metadata provided by the engineer. Any engineer globally can search by metadata to find the data set of interest, and then perform an analysis on multiple files stored on the global server.
The choice to create a data management system powered by NI DIAdem & DataFinder Server was made after a year of effort that consisted of defining the needs of the end users globally, distilling those needs into a functional specification, and then evaluating all of the products available against that set of requirements.
